While primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service, you will also be expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services, being involved with the ward manager and senior management team in helping to steer the development of the service in line with the strategic direction of the hospital and Elysium. Key Responsibilities of the Consultant Psychiatrist include: Act as Responsible Clinician for Clyst Ward.Lead clinical decision-making and manage complex casesFormulate care plans and guide evidence-based treatmentParticipate in MDT meetings, care reviews, and strategic service developmentCollaborate with external agencies and implement the Mental Health ActContribute to clinical governance, audits, and service improvementMaintain accurate clinical records and meet NHSE contractual obligationsParticipate in second tier-on-call rota (telephone advice) and provide cover for colleagues during absences. To be successful in this role you’ll need: MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of PsychiatristsCCT/CESR equivalent in General Adult is desirableCCT/CESR equivalent in other specialities may be considered depending on the interest and experience of the individual.Candidates without CCT/CESR but with AC status and extensive experience in acute inpatient and working in senior medical/consultant type roles may be considered.Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patientsTo hold Section 12(2) approval to work in England and Approved clinician statusExperience of working within acute inpatient or community settings, ideally inpatient settings and have experience in risk assessment and risk management. This permanent Consultant Psychiatrist position (37.5 hours per week) will see you join the established multidisciplinary team at Spring Wood Lodge. The service has 21 beds across two wards in a locked rehabilitation setting providing treatment for women with mental disorders including personality disorders. The wards are well supported by a full complement of multidisciplinary team.  You will act as a Consultant / Responsible Clinician for patients in this setting. You will have CCT in General Adult or Forensic psychiatry and experience of working with and leading multidisciplinary teams.  You will be part of an environment that specialises in providing rehabilitation utilising positive behavioural support principles and empowering service users in their recovery.  Spring Wood Lodge is located in the outskirts of Leeds at Guiseley and has close links to NHS services with established care pathways. It has excellent transport links to Bradford, Leeds and is within a short distance of Yorkshire Dales National Park. Your responsibilities will include: Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of patients.Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.Contributing to in-house training programmes within the services and offering supervision to other members of the multi-disciplinary team, particularly junior medical staff.Maintaining CPD and re-validation requirements, as determined by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or other relevant statutory bodies. Join Emerald Place Clinic as a Consultant Child and Young People Psychiatrist and deliver, treat and empower young people to live a safe and independent life. You will join our multidisciplinary team in a 12-bed General Adolescent Inpatient Unit. The unit provides care for young people aged 13 –18 experiencing acute mental health difficulties requiring inpatient treatment. You will play a key role in clinical leadership, risk management, and therapeutic planning, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care. As a CYPMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you will deliver an evidence-based and focused treatment plan to support the children and young people, and their families, as they progress through their care plans to understand eating behaviours and restore physical health.  You will work alongside the talented and experienced multidisciplinary team to create tailored treatment programmes to support the individual needs of each young person within a warm and nurturing environment. This will allow you to understand symptoms, patterns and origins of psychological distress.  Team Structure Multidisciplinary team includes: psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, family therapists, and education staff.Supported by junior doctors (Specialist doctor/RMO after hours). As the Consultant Child and Young People Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include: Clinical Duties Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and management of young people admitted to the unit.Lead on formulation and treatment planning in collaboration with the MDT.Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medication in line with NICE guidelines.Conduct regular ward rounds, CPA reviews, and Mental Health Act assessments.Liaise with families, carers, and external agencies including Case managers, community CYPMHS, social care, and education providers.Provide clinical leadership in managing complex cases and safeguarding concerns. Leadership & Governance Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.Participate in clinical governance, audit, and peer review activities.Support junior medical staff and contribute to teaching and supervision.Attend and contribute to management meetings and strategic planning. On-call Duties Participate in the CYPMHS consultant on-call rota (frequency to be agreed) To be successful in this role, you'll need Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.Inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.Extensive experience in CYPMHS, including inpatient settings.Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills.Commitment to safeguarding and trauma-informed care.Experience in service development or research.Additional training in psychotherapy or systemic approaches.
