As a Commis Chef at Richmond Aston, you’ll assist our Chefs in all aspects of food preparation and ensuring all catering areas are cleaned, maintained and safe. Salary: £12.60ph & Excellent Benefits Shift: 9-4pm 5 days from 7 - Alternate Weekends What your typical day involves Catering to residents, visitors and the public across the village which includes an 80-cover table d'hôtel Restaurant, 40 cover Bistro/Café bar, 40 cover Club House Café and 3 Care Home dining rooms. Prepare and cook food in accordance with food hygiene regulations against a set menu to a consistent and high-quality standard. Deliver front of house services to customers ensuring consistent standards. Work within the extensive HACCP framework tailored to a Health Care Environment. Maintain a clean and hygienic working area. Respond to residents and customers dietary needs and personal preferences. •      Any other reasonable duties required by the Head Chef•      Self-motivated and proactive•      Great communication skills•      Willingness to follow instruction•      Relevant training and culinary qualifications  Who we’re looking for You understand Health and Safety and knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe and hygiene environment. An up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and previous experience of working in a catering department or kitchen would be advantageous. Ideally you have some knowledge of working in a care environment and stock control along with an ability to prepare simple meals. Organised and adaptable, you can work well within a team and under your own initiative. Do you want a job that could build into a career?  We are seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at a prestigious boarding school. This role is ideal for a junior chef who can effectively support the Head Chef, follow directions accurately, and seamlessly integrate into our team to fill an immediate gap. The position is for a n initial 2 months and then potentially moving onto a permanent position.  Day-to-day of the role: Assist the Head Chef and other kitchen staff in daily culinary operations.Prepare ingredients and perform basic cooking duties under the supervision of the Head Chef.Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen following all health and safety guidelines.Work efficiently to meet the demands of a busy kitchen environment.Adapt to varying weekly schedules, including term time and educational group bookings.Initially, the role is for one month, with the potential to become permanent based on performance and operational requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications: Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate.Experience in a similar junior or commis chef role is preferable.Ability to take direction and work effectively within a team.Capable of managing time efficiently and muddling through busy periods.Open to participating in an apprentice scheme to further culinary skills and knowledge.
