We are seeking a proactive and dynamic Commercial Lawyer to lead on the Scout’s property work, including supporting the Scout Association Trust Corporation.  In addition to property work, you’ll take on a variety of general legal and commercial responsibilities, including claims and litigation management, compliance, and regulatory support. Their contentious tax team covers both direct and indirect contentious tax matters. This includes managing tax risk, HMRC investigations and tax litigation (controversy) before the tax tribunals and higher courts. The team acts for corporates and private clients in many jurisdictions around the world, supporting them with advice and through crisis-related issues with tax authorities and regulatory and law enforcement bodies. They have been involved in many of the UK's most high profile pieces of tax litigation. Due to planned growth, the team is now recruiting, and having recruited at Senior Associate level are looking for an additional Junior Associate, most likely between NQ and 3 PQE. In order to be considered for this role you will ideally have: Strong academics, intellectual rigour and strong technical and research skills;An interest and understanding of (if not specific experience in) tax law and procedure;Experience of working on and running tax cases in a team environment;Client contact and business development experience appropriate to your PQE;The ability to adopt a proactive approach and take initiative;Strong written and verbal communication skills; andProven ability to manage a busy, complex case load. Candidates at NQ level should have completed at least at seat in non-contentious Tax if not Tax controversy, as well as a seat in Litigation. The team describes themselves as litigators before tax Lawyers, and as such whilst tax controversy-specific experience would be very highly regarded, a litigator with another specialism but with an understanding of and interest in tax-related work might also be of interest.
