Junior Estimator - Social Housing
This role is ideal for an individual at an early stage of their estimating career who is looking to develop strong commercial and technical skills within a structured and supportive environment. The Junior Estimator will work closely with senior estimators, commercial managers and operational teams, gaining hands-on experience across the full estimating and tendering lifecycle. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, including labour, materials, plant, preliminaries and overheadsSupport the production and management of tender documentation in line with specifications and submission deadlinesReview drawings, specifications and contract documentation to understand project scope and requirementsHelp obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations to support accurate pricingMaintain estimating databases, cost models and benchmarking informationAssist in the preparation of cost reports, pricing schedules and tender clarificationsSupport senior team members during bid reviews and internal approval processesAttend site visits when required to support tender development and data verificationEnsure estimating activities are completed in accordance with internal procedures and governance requirements Skills, Knowledge & Experience Some experience within construction, property maintenance or estimating (placement, apprenticeship or graduate level experience considered)Basic understanding of construction processes and cost componentsCompetent user of Microsoft Excel and general office softwareStrong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detailWell organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesClear verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to learn Development Opportunity This role offers structured development, mentoring and exposure to live projects, providing a clear pathway to progress into an Estimator role as experience and capability develop.
