Main Areas of ResponsibilityYour responsibilities will include: Supporting the Senior Attendance Officer to ensure attendance targets are metDaily monitoring and follow-up of attendance and punctualityParticipating on late desk and follow up detentions to be issued for those students late to the AcademyContacting parents/carers of students absent at agreed time and recording reasons for absence if givenDaily monitoring and early calls on the attendance of children in care or students on the vulnerable list as a priority, reporting to the Academy Welfare manager dailyMaking home visits with the Academy welfare manager as requiredSending letters to parents regarding attendance matters as requested by the Academy Welfare ManagerEnsuring the smooth operation of the computerised registration systemEnsuring daily attendance information is entered accurately onto the systemEstablishing the reason for absences including telephone calls, letters and home visits, in liaison with the tutors and other staffPreparing and distributing attendance and punctuality certificates as part of the Academy's reward policyFollowing up on poor attendance or punctualitySigning students in and out of the Academy outside normal start and finish times, ensuring communication with home where requiredLiaising with the Educational Welfare Officer to ensure prompt, consistent and rigorous intervention on poor attendanceMonitoring student attendance together with students’ progress and performance in relation to targets setDealing with referrals on attendance concerns from facultiesAlerting appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and making recommendations as to how these may be resolvedCommunicating with parents and with persons or bodies outside the Academy concerned with the welfare of individual students Qualifications & ExperienceWhilst previous experience is great, we are always open to wildcards.
