Key Responsibilities of an Engineer: Assisting with maintenance tasks of plant and equipment as part of a site focused team.Assist with routine inspections of equipment and tools.Supporting delivery of key Operations / Engineering initiatives aimed at Improving downtime, line/factory efficiency and maintenance expenditure..Assist in the delivery of Quality Critical PM and HACCP schedules.Experience working in all areas of the Engineering/Production department.Attending meetings, briefings and shift handovers.Development of Maintenance Best Practice. What we can do for you? At the end of the apprenticeship you will receive a nationally recognized qualification and start your career based at any one of the Shropshire sites. We are partnered with a local provider for this Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme but there is the real possibility for further progression onto Higher Education including HNC, HND and up to degree level with a number of other local colleges and Universities. What you will need? Your development journey will be strategically guided by Müller Yogurts and Desserts Quality teams to give you a thorough learning of all aspects of the business operation. What’s in the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship? As an apprentice Laboratory Technician at Müller Yogurt & Desserts you will learn how to: Assist with the decontamination of equipment, learn about waste management processes and procedures and how to undertake this effectively.You will be taught how to stock check many of our general consumable stores and the re-ordering process and how to allocate bar codes as requested by our scientists for importing into the Chemical Inventory.In addition you will have the opportunity to discover general lab equipment maintenance methods and/or how to coordinate engineers for repairs and servicing of equipment in conjunction with our scientists.It’s a hands on role as you will be able to assist in the preparation of reagent/buffers, register and record Fixed Asset Numbers on new equipment purchases and recording them on our internal systems.You will need to learn about maintenance, a tidy workplace and Health and safety processes and procedures to ensure you work safely within our labs. What we can do for you? At the end of the Apprenticeship programme you will gain the following awards: BETEC Level 3 National Certificate in Applied Science which includes: Principles and Applications of Science Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques What You will Need? You will study towards a recognised qualification, earn a good salary, develop new skills, and gain invaluable experience. Your key responsibilities as an Engineering Apprentice will include: Asset Management: keeping Manufacturing machinery maintained, managing processes, filling/packing, and site cleaning operationsInvolvement in Continuous Improvement projects, project management, or tests and trial activitiesFault finding and quick action to meet food safety standardsBeing part of a team striving to achieve the highest quality productsHighlighting concerns and ensuring products or volumes meet the agreed requirements and targets This Apprenticeship combines technical training, academic study, and work-based learning, and covers all the fundamental Engineering topics you need to know, such as: Electrical principles and maintenanceMechanical maintenance to keep the factories running efficientlyAutomation This programme is delivered in partnership with our training provider, North West Training Council (NWTC), where you’ll spend 20 weeks of your first year with Müller at their state-of-the-art training facility. From years 2 – 4, you’ll spend a combined 22 weeks with NWTC, with the remainder of the time spent back at Market Drayton site to embed your learning with our team of Engineering experts, whilst continuing to work with our training provider partner to complete your apprenticeship.
