We have a fantastic opportunity to join SNG (Sovereign Network Group) as a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant. You'll be based from our head office in Basingstoke, combining office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance. There may be some travel to our Wembley office if required.SNG is one of the largest housing associations in England. We provide over 85,000 homes and invest in communities across London, the South East, South West and East of England, as well as aiming to create thousands of new affordable homes every year.What you'll be doingThe fixed asset team are responsible for SNG’s fixed asset register for housing, investment and other fixed assets (c.£7bn). Reporting into the Fixed Asset & Capital Accounting Manager, and working alongside our Fixed Asset Accountants, you'll lead the effective delivery of fixed asset processes to ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting. You’ll play a leading role with the ongoing administration of the fixed asset register, ensuring new additions, disposals and other updates are correctly accounted for and reconciled in line with SNG’s accounting policies.You'll also provide input into SNG's capitalisation policy, working with business owners and finance business partners to ensure SNG remains compliant with changes to FRS102, housing SORP requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities include:Acting as the key subject matter expert in improving business processes, ensuring the accounting controls for fixed assets are maintainedEnsuring adoption of aligned capital policies and procedures across all financial transactions and simplifying transition to a single way of working across SNG for Fixed AssetsProviding regular analysis and monthly reporting and commentary for the SNG Group of actual results, including the recalculation of the annual forecast/budget for depreciation and amortisationResponsible for accurate and timely recording of all fixed assets using the fixed asset and finance systems, complying with legislation and accounting policies including component accountingParticipating in the production of annual statutory accounts for all SNG companies, liaising with external auditors working to agreed project deadlinesInitiating and undertaking fixed assets projects and other tasks seeking to improve fixed asset processes, enhancing efficiency, service delivery and financial controlsFacilitating the completion of all monthly balance sheet reconciliations coordinating with other members of the financial accounting team to ensure reconciliations are completed on time and documented effectivelyWhat we need from youYou'll be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with demonstrable experience in a similar role within fixed asset accounting. You'll need experience from within the Housing or Property sectors, or from within a large commercial organisation with a comprehensive fixed asset register.
