This outstanding primary school in Westminster is looking for an experienced Early Years Teacher to take on phonics responsibilities. A strong phonics track record is key.

Your new schoolThe children of this Westminster primary school are very rewarding to teach. They are excited about learning, hard-working and well-behaved, but are reliant upon great teaching to make expected progress. Relationships within the school are very good and parents/carers are very supportive of the school's work. The school is very well-resourced and has excellent facilities, particularly for ICT, physical development, DT (including cooking) and music.

What you will need to apply for this Year 1 Class Teaching vacancy in Westminster, London

  • Degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • At least three years class teaching experience in the Nursery or Reception classes within a primary school and some experience of teaching phonics.
  • Experience of working with speakers of English as an Additional Language.
  • Knowledge and understanding of assessment for learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how young children learn best, including through play.
  • Experience teaching phonics.
  • The ability to maintain high standards of behaviour and excellent discipline using positive strategies.
  • The ability to train, support and challenge others when necessary.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Passionate about education and particularly determined to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
  • Evidence of continuous INSET and commitment to further professional development.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of children's workforce professionals.
  • Knowledge of primary teaching and learning styles.
  • A good understanding of inclusion issues e.g. SEN, EAL, G&T, refugee etc.
