Position: Workshop Foreman

Location: Bournemouth, Dorset

Salary: £34,000 + Bonus

Monday – Friday

Role Overview:

We are currently seeking a skilled Workshop Foreman to oversee our maintenance and repair operations for a wide range of plant machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will lead a team of technicians, ensuring that all equipment is serviced, repaired, and maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a dedication to operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day workshop operations, including scheduling, prioritising, and delegating tasks to technicians.
  • Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order spare parts and materials as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including service logs and repair reports.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate equipment availability and prioritise work orders.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Foreman or similar role, preferably in the plant hire industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of plant machinery and equipment, including hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.
  • Proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license.
