JOB TITLE: Warehouse Night Shift Manager

REPORTING TO: Operations Director

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Operations Director this key role is responsible for owning and managing the shift. By empowering the team, you will develop a high performing warehouse team that will focus on delivering the Warehouse plan. Responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of all identified key tasks, whilst ensuring the team are working to the required standards, individually and as a whole.

Responsible for running the Warehouse when on shift and ensuring all KPI measures and key tasks are continually met and exceeded.

The Warehouse Team are responsible for the warehouse function within the company ensuring the efficient and cost-effective management of all operational activities to assist in the overall production and despatch of customers’ orders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own, lead and manage the night warehouse shift activity - 4 others on shift
  • Shift brief
  • Coordinating our Dutch customer deliveries - what stock is coming in and if it’s going out same day etc. and sorting paperwork
  • Manage team of 3 Warehouse Operatives and 1 Warehouse Team Leader
  • Ensure that all employee relations activity, such as absence management, performance management, disciplinary proceedings and the training and development of your team is carried out in line with Company policies and procedures
  • Sort customer returns
  • Sort sub-contractor deliveries, label, and line up ready to go
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Organise the floor for the day
  • Emails and use of Road Runner our TMS system
  • Lead, train and coach the team. Ensure that all relevant warehouse standard operating procedures, are trained out to the team
  • Liaise with shunter to get vehicles on and off the bays
  • Prepare for the morning shift and provide an effective handover
  • Accident investigations
  • Ensure that effective communication processes are in place to promote the regular and effective communication to the team of all matters including operational performance, strategy, personnel, health & safety, and training etc.
  • Effective resource planning and management to ensure that labour costs are managed and controlled in line with budget and plan
  • Working efficiently and effectively as part of the Warehouse team to ensure the correct standards of work are maintained and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives which will benefit the department and its customers
  • Lead, develop and inspire the team to continually deliver outstanding results and achieve departmental objectives

General

  • Ensure the high level of Health, safety and welfare of all self and others through adherence to the Health and Safety statement and policy
  • Adhere to all relevant warehouse standard operating procedures and safe systems of work at all times
  • Keep work area and yard area clean and tidy and clean as you go
  • Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work
  • To perform any reasonable request from the Operations Director

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Previous Warehouse X-dock experience
  • Team leader/management experience
  • Warehouse experience - 3 years+ required
  • Experience of working within a busy fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Good leadership, motivational and people management skills
  • Takes ownership for own and team’s performance
  • Able to work to time sensitive deadlines and prioritise work
  • Able to problem solve and make decisions
  • An understanding of a target driven environment
  • Good numeracy, spoken and writtencommunicationskills
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Transport Management Systems)
  • Counterbalance Forklift and PPT licencesessential
  • Willing to challenge established practices
  • Manual Handling experience and ability to work in a physically demanding role
  • Able to pay strict attention to detail
  • Able to keep calm under pressure
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers and suppliers
  • Willing to be an active member of the team with a hands on approach

HOURS OF WORK: 40 Hours per week - Mon - Fri 19:00 - 03:30

SALARY: Circa£35,000

HOLIDAY/BENEFITS :20 days holiday plus bank holidays. This increases to a maximum of 25 days plus bank holidays based on length of service. Sickness scheme, employee of the month scheme, company pension scheme. company will pay for the renewal of forklift and PPT licences
