We require a War Crimes Team Typist to cover an existing workload within Counter Terrorism Policing, based in Empress State Building (Hybrid working).

This is an interim position for an initial 6 months with the potential to be extended, dependent on workload.

Job Purpose:

The War Crimes Team (WCT) has the national responsibility for the investigation of Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity, War Crimes and Torture. The War Crimes Team sits within SO15 Counter Terrorism Command – Investigations. As a typist on the War Crimes Team, you will provide essential support in assisting with the preparation of papers for court cases as well as other important documents. You will be working as a typist within the busy SO15 War Crimes Team. You will be part of a team within a busy working environment, supporting the unit in the investigation and detection of the most serious of crimes.

This is an opportunity to directly support officers in the prosecution of offenders, by preparing key evidence for court. The work will be mainly audio typing, with some copy typing. Some work may contain unpleasant details of offences, and information of a highly confidential nature. Psychological screening may be required, depending on the nature of the work performed.

With staff and officers depending on you, high standards are crucial. Teamwork will also be essential, along with resilience. The key is to take pride in your work and deliver fantastic customer service.

Skills and experience needed to be successful in this role:

  • Experience and appropriate qualifications in typing.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational, time management and planning skills.
  • Be willing and prepared to work to critical time deadlines.
  • Experience in typing to deadlines. 

This role offers a competitive salary of £17.90 per hour PAYE and you’ll be working via Reed who offer great benefits such as discounts, cashback offers and more as well as weekly pay.
