Covéa Insurance is on the lookout for a Veterinary Specialist to join our team. We are looking for those passionate about pets to bring their technical expertise to a growing team eager to learn and develop. The Pet Claims team is a dynamic and exciting team, responsible for providing customers with an excellent service in their time of need.

This is a hybrid role, there is a requirement to attend the office in Halifax at least 3 days a week.

What will I be doing?

  • Use expertise to review and evaluate veterinary medical records to assess technical and high value pet insurance claims.
  • Support the wider team on technical referrals, ensuring timely and informed decision outcomes.
  • Ensure sufficient cost control and accurate indemnity decisions are in place when dealing with claims, in line with policy wording.
  • Provide insight into performance of our growing team, through quality control checks.
  • Deliver feedback and training, sharing veterinary experience, to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Review and take ownership of pet claims complaints, in line with FCA guidelines.
  • Provide insight into the root cause of complaints, providing feedback and upskilling where necessary.
  • Utilise and enhance MI to support claims, complaints and team performance and initiate process improvements where necessary.
  • Stay up to date and share industry trends and challenges through research and CPD.
  • Liaise with external partners, providing insight on performance and updates on technical claims queries.

What would we like to see in you?

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A passion for embedding a culture of growth and high performance, with skills to share knowledge and expertise
  • High attention to detail specifically when dealing with technical and high value claims and complaints
  • The ability to effectively utilise MI and other metrics to support a high performing team, identifying improvements and changes to process to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Experience of working within the Veterinary sector
  • Preferable experience of working in the insurance/financial services industry
  • A qualification within Veterinary Science (or similar)
