The Opportunity

Due to further expansion, we are looking for an Underwriter to join our well established, fast-paced, experienced SME motor team based in Stafford. QBE has built a reputation for excellence within the E-Trade SME Motor market and this is an exciting time to be part of a dynamic business, with ongoing growth aspirations.

Your Role:

  • Underwrite business within personal underwriting authority to delivery Business Plan objectives
  • Support/Build Broker Distribution & Engagement Plans in conjunction with the Market Management Team
  • Establish, strengthen, and develop relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues to maximize influence and achieve business objectives
  • Demonstrate an understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to enhance business performance
  • Motivate and coach team members to ensure the relevant knowledge and expertise is shared for their continuing personal and professional development
  • Participate in all relevant meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
  • Build strong Broker relationships that leverage QBE’s proposition
  • Collaborate with the wider regional teams to deliver cross class client solutions and engagement
  • Work with other functions within the business to deliver customer focused solutions, including Risk Solutions, Claims, Operations and Market Management

About You:

  • Experience in underwriting or handling commercial Motor business
  • An understanding of market dynamics and trends
  • Good relationship management through interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your tasks to gain maximum outcome
  • An open mindset that will allow you to innovate and adapt your approach to deliver customer focused solutions
  • A knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements
  • Progress towards CII qualifications
