Transport Planner

Our client is a Global FMCG Distributor and we are delighted to assist them in their search for an experienced Transport professional as they look to recruit a Transport Planner at their site in Wakefield on a Tuesday - Saturday (45hours p/w).

Reporting into the Transport Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless coordination and optimisation of transport operations. Your responsibilities span various facets, ranging from maintaining drivers' schedules to efficiently planning and consolidating orders.

Key Accountabilities as Transport Planner:

• Maintain drivers hours map.
• Book agency drivers as required from supplier.
• Support to ensure sufficient resources are available to fulfil all shuttle plans, outbound plans, backhaul plans.
• Sell loads to subcontractor as required with agreed prices and margin.
• Buy backhaul loads as available in line with requirements.
• Ensure all work undertaken is raised correctly and comprehensive information is recorded on TMS.
• Consolidate orders in most efficient manner.
• Route multi-drops in most appropriate manner.
• Plan DD trailers to maximum use at point of consolidation.
• Maintain drivers holiday plan in line with company requirements

The Ideal Person for the Transport Planner role:

• Previous Transport Planning experience
• Understanding and experience of using transport planning software (Paragon, Roadrunner, Truckstop, SAP, IXSOLUTION).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent IT literacy.
