Alfa Staff - Transport Manager

Alfa Staff are recruiting for a Transport Manager on behalf of a large independent Transport Company based in Newport. The Ideal Candidate would have Proven experience as a Transport Manager preferably in a fast-paced environment.

As the Fleet/Transport Manager, you will play a pivotal role and will be responsible in overseeing and optimising a fully compliant fleet of lorries and vans ensuring we receive maximum uptime and availability for operational delivery. You will work with operations team including the drivers to ensure legal compliance and that the requirements of the operator’s licence are undertaken.

Fleet Transport Manager responsibilities:

  • In this position you will monitor deliveries, communicating with customers,
  • drivers and other depots to understand the status of each run,
  • You will help plan routes and loads to maximise vehicle fill rates and ensure efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.

The successful Fleet Transport Manager will require the following:

  • National Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (CPC)
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large fleets as a certified CPC holder.
  • Strong people management abilities, encompassing skills in influence, collaboration, and feedback.
  • Familiar with legal compliance in a Freight / Transport / Distribution environment.
  • Knowledge or experience of the HGV industry
  • Be motivated and energetic personality.
  • Strong communication skills
