Hunter Chase Consultants are working with our client, a leading commodity business, to find a talented Trainee or recent Graduate, to join their busy trading team. This a great opportunity for an individual with commercial flare and ideally with some trading or buying experienceto quickly become an important member of the trading team, helping to ensure optimum commodity volumes and margins are achieved at all times.

This role could also provide the opportunity for a farm grain buyer/farm trader to move into a role with a dual focus spending some time grain trading, whilst still involved in some farm grain buying and origination via an established list of farmers and growers across North of England and Southern Scotland.

Specific responsibilities will include:-

  • Trading grains to a variety of end users including animal feed manufacturers
  • Buying grain from farmers and maintaining contact with established farmer ledger and key suppliers
  • Supporting other members of the Trading Team in trading activities and procurement
  • Developing good trading relationships with key consumers and key famer suppliers
  • Keeping abreast of market information/trends for all commodities and to assist in communicating this information as required
  • To provide accurate management information
  • Assisting with the development of other trading opportunities
  • To undertake other duties and projects as required

Candidate Requirements:-

  • Keen interest in UK agriculture, and ideally in commodity and grain markets.
  • Some commodity sector or procurement or grain trading experience (farm grain buying experience would also be relevant) but recent graduates are also encouraged to apply and will also be considered.
  • Strong commercial awareness - previous commercial work experience helpful.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural sector including grain and cereals and farming.
  • Confident self-starter with the determination to succeed.
  • Excellent communication, analysis and numeracy skills.
  • Degree or HND in Agriculture, Business or other relevant subject - preferred
  • Clean driving licence
  • Full training can be provided as necessary.

Salary: Generous package, depending on experience.
