Support. Challenge. Inspire.

For over 25 years Snapdragons has forged a reputation for exceptional care and education and is now the largest provider of Early Years education and careers in Bath, Bristol and North Wiltshire. Our award-winning, family-run group is recognised locally and nationally as a leader in the nursery sector. We are also defying industry conventions in that we are almost fully staffed, which makes for a more creative and relaxed working environment.

The post is full time, where you can choose to work either 40 hours or 45 hours over 4 days. We offer an attractive salary of up to £31,725 per annum* with flexible interview dates available.

As Head of Pre-School, you will be an outstanding and inspiring practitioner. You will have the confidence to lead your team, displaying a high level of motivation, a flexible enthusiastic approach and good communication skills. You must be able to provide exceptional early years care in a safe, nurturing and fulfilling environment whilst inspiring children aged 3-5 to unlock their full potential through key skills and values which will establish them as gifted citizens of the world.

You must have a minimum of Level 3 qualification specific to Early Years as defined by the Department for Education, and at least 2 years minimum post qualifying experience.

Snapdragons Redland is in a leafy residential conservation area surrounded by greenery, including two children’s parks on the doorstep. Toddlers and preschool children occupy one building each in two beautiful Victorian villas linked by a modern glass atrium. The babies have their own Baby Pod, a single level modern building with access to its own garden areas alongside the main garden. As with all our nurseries the interiors are furnished with natural wooden furniture and high-quality resources to stimulate curiosity and open-ended play. There is a stunning children’s kitchen and bistro dining area and a hall equipped with a stage and indoor climbing feature. This is our largest nursery with capacity for 200 children aged 0-5 years so you will find career opportunities and progression within the large staff team, as well as lots of friends. There is some limited staff parking, but the nursery is very well served by public transport with buses running regularly along all the nearby routes, as well as being just 2 minutes from Redland train station with local lines and a link to Temple Meads.

The perks of working for Snapdragons don’t stop at our competitive Early Years salaries. Here are some more great reasons to join the team:

We want to improve your work/life balance

  • Work full time (40 hrs) over 4 days, with paid lunch breaks
  • Almost seven weeks of paid annual leave and an extra paid day off on your birthday
  • Family friendly policies including generous childcare discounts so your own children can attend (30% minimum discount)

We want to help you look after yourself

  • Enhanced company sick pay
  • 24/7 access to an award-winning Employee Assistance Programme
  • Dedicated inhouse wellbeing team

We want to help you progress

  • Wide ranging opportunities for training and career progression including Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner, EYITT, ECT, Level 3 Early Years SENCO & Forest School

*The role has a base salary of £27,000 per year for a 40-hour week or £30,373 per year for a 45-hour week. A performance-based bonus of £1,350 per year is available.

Snapdragons are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Snapdragons Nursery is committed to being an equal opportunities employer.
