The role: You will have responsibility for managing, coaching, and developing a team of Property Accountants as well as improving process and procedures within the department.

Duties:

  • Responsible for the management of the property accountants; to ensure accurate records are maintained and tasks complete within time frames set.
  • Make improvements to processes which lead to efficiencies, reduce the risk of errors and increases accuracy and quality of reporting.
  • Ensure the team adhere to the Company’s procedure manual.
  • Work closely with the Group Finance Team to ensure effective reporting and communication between the departments and to review all reporting to other departments.
  • Participate in and run ad-hoc projects.
  • Provide coverage across the department as and when required.
  • To ensure all service charge, tasks are complete within the department KPI’s.
  • Carry out all service charge tasks for allocated portfolio of properties within set timeframes (Budgeting, Variance Reporting, Year End Accounting, and all associated maintenance tasks).
  • Monitor property cash positions highlighting shortfalls and potential liability.
  • Management Fee and Staff recharging raising and reconciliations.
  • Review and approve all bank reconciliations carried out by the Property Accountants / Cashier.
  • Ensure the quarterly and VAT reporting to the finance team is accurate and complete within the department KPIs.
  • Provide reports as requested to enable the calculation of the annual head rents.
  • Reviewing all database forms provided to the team prior to entry to the system.
  • Maintaining data integrity within the property management system
  • Review departmental processes / documentation manuals, provide suggestions for improvement / changes as required.
  • Management of the quarterly rent raise process.
  • Developing and monitoring KPIs for the property accountants.
  • Managing and distributing ad hoc tasks to the team including; completion statements, turnover rent calculations, head rent reconciliations, rental payovers, etc

Requirements:

  • Maintain the highest standards of personal and professional conduct.
  • A strong people manager and a diplomatic team player
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively (verbally and written) both with employees in the department and in other areas of the organisation to contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s objectives.
  • Provide technical advice to non-technical staff as and when necessary.
  • Solid organisation and time management.
  • Ability to think proactively and work on own initiative in suggesting improvements to existing processes.
  • Sound business judgement with financial analytical abilities.
  • Ability to influence and manage relationships both internally and externally with a wide spectrum of individuals and stakeholders.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Experience managing and maintaining Property Management Accounting Software.
