Job Title: Thermal Engineer

Salary: Competitive depending on experience 

Location: Stevenage (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 2 to 3 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

  • Conduct thermal analysis and simulations to evaluate the performance of various systems and components

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to determine thermal requirements and develop innovative solutions

  • Design and optimise thermal management systems to ensure efficient operation in extreme conditions

  • Perform testing and validation to verify the performance of thermal solutions

  • Offer technical expertise and support to individuals and teams within and outside the organisation

What we're looking for from you:

  • Ideally, degree qualified in a subject relevant to the role or demonstrable equivalent experience.

  • Good problem solving skills coupled with a sound fundamental knowledge of heat transfer analysis using computational methods and manual calculations.

  • Experience applying CAE tools (e.g. ANSYS, MATLAB, Python) to investigate heat transfer problems.

  • Motivated individual who is organised and has strong interpersonal skills.

Desirable, but not critical:

  • Post graduate qualification in a subject relevant to the role.

  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing small teams in the delivery of projects.

  • Knowledge and experience of methods for managing the thermal performance and validation of mechanical and electronic systems.
