Job Purpose: 

The role entails overseeing the operations of the procurement and temporary accommodation teams, ensuring a consistent and well-maintained supply of suitable temporary housing. This involves managing the procurement and renewal of accommodations, as well as maintaining contracts with suppliers across various accommodation types in a rigorous, effective, and legally compliant manner. Additionally, the position carries the responsibility for managing all aspects of temporary accommodation, including repairs, vacancies, landlord communication, lettings, and tenancy management, while ensuring adherence to health and safety standards and legislation. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and property providers to meet demand, managing budgets efficiently, and contributing to strategic property leadership are also key aspects of the role.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Staff Management and Development: Responsible for overseeing staff management processes including recruitment, induction, work allocation, and training evaluation. Implements corporate and departmental procedures such as grievance handling, disciplinary actions, performance appraisals, and sickness absence management.
Customer Focus and Service Improvement: Ensures high standards of professional practice by understanding and meeting customer requirements, resolving complaints effectively, and integrating good practices to improve service delivery. Promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion both internally and externally, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
Performance and Service Standards: Delivers on key performance indicators and service standards for Temporary Accommodation and Procurement service. Manages procurement processes, service level agreements, and legal compliance to ensure effective stock management and service delivery.
Legislative Compliance and Homelessness Prevention: Maintains detailed knowledge of relevant housing legislation and advises on legislative changes impacting service delivery. Implements strategies to prevent homelessness, increase affordable housing supply, and sustain tenancies in line with contractual requirements and statutory changes, aiming for cost avoidance and efficient service delivery.
