We are looking for a highly motivated Technical Manager to join this fast-growing food business and play a key part in the company’s ongoing progression.

The Technical Manager will lead the technical development of product and packaging from specification, artwork copy and nutritional testing through to certification. They will be responsible for meeting all food safety, quality, technical, legal, ethical, environmental and customer requirements - ensuring systems are in place to deliver continuous improvement whilst maintaining third party certification.

The Role:

• NPD & EPD

Deliver the Technical Function requirements of NPD & EPD.

• Quality Assurance

Ensure all relevant external accreditations and audit standards are achieved and continuously maintained; Regularly review product and pack quality with all manufacturing partners (including overseas manufacturers).

• Customer / Consumer / External Relationships 

Be the first point of contact with external bodies; Undertake Complaint Investigations; Be the Technical / Quality lead with customers.

• Compliance

Accountable for product and pack legal, ethical and environmental compliance.

• Supplier Management – Regular travel to manufacturers, copackers and retailers (both in the UK and abroad).

The Individual:

• Educated to degree level in food science or qualified by equivalent relevant experience.
• Excellent knowledge of food safety requirements, standards and legislation including BRC global standards.
• Experience of managing successful projects from concept to launch.
• A proven track record of working with UK Retailers.
• Full UK Driving License.
• Ideal further qualifications include a minimum of Level 3 HACCP, Food Safety, Food Hygiene, Internal Auditing etc.
• A basic understanding of packaging technology would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with an excellent package that includes a basic salary of between £45-55K (dependant on skills and experience) plus Pension plus Laptop and Phone.
