We are inviting a passionate Teaching Assistant with a special interest in English to join an all-through special school for boys aged 5-18 years old. Set in the tranquil West Sussex countryside, the school prides itself on its modern facilities and a strong commitment to the safety, physical, and emotional wellbeing of pupils. They strive to create a supportive environment that addresses the unique needs of each student.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work with children who have complex emotional needs, ensuring de-escalation before disruption.
  • Maintain positive relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary.
  • Understand how pupils learn and meet their individual requirements.
  • Support the delivery of English education, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and classroom organisation.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor student progress and provide targeted support.
  • Engage with pupils to build a community and act as a positive role model.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children, especially those with complex emotional needs.
  • Ability to support English education for students throughout KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good relationships with pupils.
  • A genuine level of care and desire to help students thrive.
  • A driving licence is essential due to the rural location of the school.
