Join the team at Rhodes Wood Hospital School as a Teaching Assistant and be part of supporting the delivery of education to 8 up to 18 yearswith eating disorders to help build a brighter future. 

You will work at an on-site Ofsted Registered school to support children and young people to continue with their education while in hospital. This helps to ease re-integration/transition to home when they are ready for discharge.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide on-hand support to teachers as they design and deliver classroom lessons. This will see you assist in the preparation for these lessons, ensuring the classroom has all materials required and supporting pupils to engage in the syllabus. 

You'll be able to think creatively and build a strong rapport with the cohort, encouraging engagement and supporting their learning, behaviour and social skills progression.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Education-related qualifications 
  • Previous experience of working with children in a school setting.
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • Hobbies/interests/skills that contribute to a wide curriculum offering
  • Have experience of working with young people with SEMH needs and/or SEN
  • Be able to identify and implement interventions to ensure students engage in lessons and make progress
  • Be resilient, flexible, and adaptable in approach in order to meet the needs of each individual
  • Be able to empathise and engage easily with young people, offering appropriate and professional support at all times 

Where you will be working

Location: Rhodes Wood Hospital. Shepherds Way, Hatfield AL9 6NN

You will be working at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder service for children and young people aged 8-18 years.

Situated in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. All children and young people have their own en-suite bedrooms. The services emphasise not only the mental wellbeing of young people but also their educational, emotional and physical needs.
