Role: ASD Teaching Assistant - Primary

Location: South London

Contract: Part Time

Start: ASAP

Rate: £95-£110 per day

If so, we are looking for a compassionate SEN specialist TA who is dedicated to supporting pupils with autism within a secondary school. This is a 1:1 role and you will be assisting a challenging boy who has Autism. To undertake this role, you will be dealing with challenging behaviour and using various reinforcement strategies to provide support for pupils who need extra support. We welcome candidates who wish to take on a fulfilling challenging position.

You will collaborate with the classroom teacher and other teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all student.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the educational environment.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of EHCPs and strategies for supporting students with ASD.
  • Ability to show empathy, compassion and resilience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • DBS (preferably on the update service)
