Support worker - to work with teenagers with Complex Learning Needs based in Rainham, Essex.

Part time: Fridays - Term time

Start date: ASAP - for the ideal candidate this could continue into the new academic year - Septemer 2024

Teenagers with SEN needs require more trained and knowledgeable staff to support their needs. Do you feel you have the skills to make a difference to a SEN teenagers life?

If you feel you can help a special needs teenager to:

  • Learn new things but most of the time this is difficult for us.
  • Not always able to vocalise how we feel and find it hard to communicate with people.
  • Enjoy communicating with signs, pictures, or motions.
  • May need assistance with personal care
  • Our vision and hearing may well be impaired, someone who has patience
  • May need help with our mobility.

We hope you have the below attributes to help make a difference in a child's education.

  • Be Kind, Caring and Hard-working and have plenty of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Be Proactive with our 1-1 learning, tasks, and activities in and outside the classroom.
  • Actively seek out suitable learning opportunities for us.
  • Have a 'Can do' attitude to help us create the best conditions for teaching us new things.
  • Good communication and listening skills and a knowledge of PECS & Makaton to help us communicate with our friends.
  • Recognise potential which will need to be encouraged and supported.
  • Can understand any triggers and traits and help us manage them.
  • Work as part of a team in class and help build upon your existing knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn new skills & new tasks.
  • Open to training courses to aid with a further understanding of our needs.
