A fantastic opportunity for a Store Manager to work for a Ladieswear fashion retailer, who have stores across the UK high street, selling items such as clothing, accessories and footwear.

Duties

  • Ensure all actions are governed by company KPI’s and objectives.
  • Maximise and drive branch sales to set company targets.
  • Minimise branch stock loss and control branch costs within company budgets.
  • Ensure that the company’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Recruit, train and develop branch staff to a pre-determined level of efficiency that is acceptable to the company.
  • Maintain exceptional store appearance and merchandising standards that complies with their vision.

SALES/CUSTOMER SERVICE

  • Ensure customers are provided with a courteous, helpful service and assistance when advice is requested.
  • Motivate and managing staff to increase sales and ensure efficiency.
  • Ensure the branch and staff comply with all the laws relating to selling as laid down by the company.
  • Respond to customer complaints and comments.
  • Promote the company locally utilising social media platforms and liaising with local schools, newspapers and the community in general.
  • Builds an atmosphere within store to encourage customers to return.

DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION

  • Organise and launch promotions, displays and events.
  • Implement branch layout as per guidelines.
  • Check stock deliveries are implemented on the sales floor as priority and maximise sales from full price and new lines across the collections/ floor.
  • Understand the local market and the stores position within it.

MAINTENANCE/HOUSEKEEPING

  • Ensure all areas on and off the sales floor are cleaned regularly and that a high standard of hygiene is maintained.
  • Ensure the branch is maintained in a safe condition and in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and to refer any issues to your Divisional Manager.

STORE PROFITABILITY & LOSS

  • Ensure store controllable costs are monitored regularly.
  • Ensure all utilities, i.e.: heating, lighting and water are used in the most economical manner.
  • Ensure there is no company property abuse; this includes stationery, telephones and cleaning materials.
  • Comply with the company Loss Prevention Manual.
  • Manage stock levels and making key decisions about stock control.
  • Initiate changes to improve the business, e.g. revising opening hours to ensure the store can compete effectively in the local market.
  • Evaluate staffing levels and costs for most effective cover of the store.
  • Control branch stock loss levels to within the company budgets.
  • Protect the company against theft from the till by observing the security regulations at the cash desk.
  • Make maximum use of store security systems and company policies with regard to bag checks, lockers and shoplifting procedures.
  • Ensure the security of the store keys.
  • Be aware of all possible areas of stock loss with regard to admin stock control and pilferage.
  • Be aware of the necessary actions to be taken in the event of an emergency and supervising these quickly and efficiently as detailed in the company policies.
  • Ensure correct security measures are carried out when taking monies to and from the bank.
  • Be responsible for all cash reconciliation within the branch.
  • Carry out daily/weekly administration procedures in line with company policy.
  • Prepare the branch for stock takes and maintain processes in store.

STAFF

  • Maintain staff levels/recruitment to the agreed weekly budget.
  • Maintain high standards of appearance of staff.
  • Ensure all members of staff are fully aware of their job responsibilities within the guidelines of their job description.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate personnel details in store and sent to Head Office.
  • Carry out staff appraisals as directed.
  • Be responsible for general welfare and discipline of sales staff through liaison with their Divisional Manager.
  • Ensure all legal employment notices are displayed and maintained on the notice board as directed by the company.

  • Develops colleagues to be able to run the store in their absence.
  • Gives colleagues the time to grow and learn from their mistakes.
  • Delegates to junior management to head up Divisional Manager visits.

COMMUNICATION

  • Liaise with Division Management on all matters, including those regarding branch staff control as required.
  • Be aware of which personnel to contact at Head Office for information and advice.
  • Update colleagues on company performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues.
  • Attend area meetings as requested.
  • Communicates regularly to help colleagues achieve goals.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Be responsible for personal safety at work by observing company regulations.
  • Ensure that actions do not endanger the safety of other members of staff or the public.
  • Report potential hazards to Division Management immediately.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the hygiene standards and cleanliness of all areas of the store including the staff room.
