Wrexham

Our client based in the Wrexham area is currently looking for a Site Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis. Working within a systemised environment, the Site Buyer role involves the purchase of manufacturing parts, components, consumables and all factory services to contribute to the success of the manufacturing facility, focussing on cost savings, continuous improvement and supporting key stakeholders. The role is locally based, with wider European Procurement team networking.

Performance Objectives

  • Provide an efficient and cost-effective Procurement service for Wrexham, ensuring that value for money is achieved.
  • Local Representative of the Group Purchasing Team responsible for the support and implementation of Group sourcing initiatives.
  • Undertake the sourcing of materials and services at the right price, right time and right quality.
  • Lead professional procurement tender and selection processes, involving key stakeholders in the scope and delivery.
  • Ensure company procedures and standards are maintained as well as SOX requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers on all aspects of the procurement process; monitor supplier performance ensuring approved suppliers provide the highest level of service.
  • Identify new suppliers, agree terms and negotiate supply agreements where appropriate, including discounts and volume rebates.
  • Contractor evaluation and management skills, understanding of required documentation.
  • Monitor the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) spend to identify cost saving opportunities, working closely with Engineering and manufacturing Stores.
  • Ensure that all operational procurement activities are being conducted in the most cost-efficient manner to reduce the number of orders being raised and transactions required, within the SAP/ARIBA systems.
  • Undertake Supplier Visits proactively and report findings to the Business.
  • Monitor and track Operational and Capex spend to optimise value.
  • Identify and deliver cost savings across all areas of site spend and benchmark with other sites.
  • Deliver targeted cost savings month on month and seek value added solutions with key suppliers.
  • Promote best Purchasing practice across the Business and manage the purchase to pay process effectively.
  • Keep updated on key market indices and supplier issues communicating effectively to the Business any cost and risk factors.
  • Ensure compliance with Company’s ISO9001, 14001, 50001 and BRC standards.

Person Specification

  • Required to work on a variety of projects and deliver within agreed deadlines.
  • Excellent Negotiation, Problem solving and Analytical skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness.
  • Enthusiastic and dynamic with a passion to achieve success.
  • Ability to work proactively and autonomously, demonstrate initiative and responsiveness.
  • Remain flexible within the Business as required, travel within UK and Europe as required.
  • CIPS Qualified or demonstrating working towards qualification.
  • Extensive Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong and proven negotiation skills.
  • Preferred experience within an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) manufacturing environment, dealing with critical OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) Suppliers.
  • Degree qualified.
