The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) is a college of the University of London and the only Higher Education institution in the UK specialising in the study of Asia, Africa and the Near and Middle East.

Based in the heart of Central London the School has some impressive facilities, including the Brunei Gallery, opened in 1995, which provides anotableconference venue. The estate also includes the SOAS Library which is recognised as a collection of national importance. In 2016, Senate House North Block opened, creating a single unified campus for SOAS. The redevelopment of the North Block of the building extendedSOAS’ Central London campus, creating spaces that facilitate both formal and informal teaching and learning.

Reporting to the Head of Security and Safety the SHEQ Manager is responsible forreconciling the strategic and comprehensive H&S Strategy of the School. You will be given considerable autonomy and will develop and maintain positive and collaborative internal networks, providing advice to staff at all levels. You will use your expertiseand external networks to inform the ongoing review and development of H&S policy and procedures.

The successful candidate will bring a comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and will possess (or be working towards) a NEBOSH Diploma or similar such as NVQ5. You will have experience of working within a SHEQ role in a comparable complex experience gained within education is desirable however is not essential.
