This international law firm are recruiting for an individual to predominantly work within the Technology, Data and IP segment of the TCT team based in London.

Whilst distribution of work will vary from time to time, it is our full expectation that a TCT Associate will gain experience across the full range of matters that make up Technology, Data and IP practice.

Typical work will therefore include the following:

  • Technology: advising on a broad range of technology contracts including system design and implementation, licensing, cloud-based arrangements, outsourcings and support and maintenance
  • Data: advising on GDPR compliance, marketing, the exploitation of data and cyber-security breaches
  • IP: advising on the development, exploitation and protection of IP rights, as well as contentious matters (mainly in respect of "soft" IP)
  • M&A: advising on the buy and sell side of transactions, with a particular focus of complex carve-outs and the transitional and long-term arrangements put in place to support a transaction

Key Responsibilities

  • Key areas of expertise include technology transactions, large-scale system implementations, IT outsourcing, cloud computing, software, data exploitation, e-commerce, copyright, trade marks, data protection compliance, digital media, cyber security, IP contracts and disputes.
  • Key areas of expertise include outsourcing, distribution, supply of good and services, joint ventures, consumer law, contract law, franchising, advertising, sponsorship.

Person Specification

  • An outstanding academic record.
  • Qualified Solicitor in respective jurisdiction.
  • Broad experience in at least two of (i) Technology; (ii) Data; and (iii) IP (commensurate with PQE level); experience in commercial contracts a bonus.
  • Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • An ability to demonstrate proactivity and good transaction management.
  • A team player who thrives working within a collegiate environment.
  • A willingness to show commitment and engagement to the firm's culture.
