Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Guildford or Sussex

Company: Principal/Specialist Micro-Tunnelling Contractor

Position Type: Permanent

Overview: As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of projects, particularly focused on sewage treatment works and tunnelling aspects, including groundworks, excavation, earthworks, concrete installation, and shaft construction. You will be responsible for estimating and controlling costs, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards, and providing essential support to the commercial director within our small yet dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare internal commercial reporting and any necessary reports for project evaluation.
  • Develop valuations/applications for payment, supported by comprehensive documentation in line with contractual obligations.
  • Generate Cost Reports to the Client, incorporating contractually compliant supporting documentation.
  • Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.
  • Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts, from requisition preparation to final account agreement.
  • Oversee contract administration, including change management and maintenance of associated registers.
  • Identify commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change initiatives to enhance project outcomes.
  • Utilise the costing system effectively to ensure accurate budget management.
  • Collaborate closely with the commercial director and other stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry, preferably with a focus on tunnelling and civil engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of NEC options A and B
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for quantity surveying and project management
