Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Senior HSEQ Advisor join our Eastern account primarily based in Bedford – office based with occasional travel to other client offices and/or construction sites.

Amey are one of the largest suppliers to Network Rail where we are currently working in Framework agreements within a collaborative environment with our clients.

Amey is national company with various projects in the Eastern region and have recently been awarded 2 places on the Eastern Routes Partnership Framework. Delivering Signalling,  Telecommunications and Contact systems minor enhancements and renewals works across the 4 routes of Networks rails Eastern Region.

Senior HSEQ Advisor plays an important part to provide the support, advice and information necessary for the operations team to deliver their services in a continually improving, safe and environmentally-friendly manner. You will be required to manage a small team to identify trends, suggest safety improvements and initiatives. You will be part of the senior team and will be client facing.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading a small team to monitor, assess and improve Ameys already excellent safety performance.
  • Apply technical or specialist knowledge to observe, inspect and audit as necessary to identify areas of strength and weakness
  • Help the operations teams to identify the causes of any weaknesses and put into place actions that will improve performance
  • Analyse information and data to identify trends and causes
  • Lead the operations teams in identifying the causes of any weaknesses and put into place actions that will improve performance
  • Highlight areas of strength and best practice and facilitate the writing of case studies so that other teams may adopt and benefit from them
  • Identify, initiate and facilitate projects to improve performance
  • Lead a team to investigate complex incidents, identifying their root causes and actions to prevent recurrence
  • Keep abreast of legislation, developments and best practices within their areas of expertise, highlighting any implications for the business
  • Give detailed training on HSEQ topics and procedures to enable the information to be cascaded further (train the trainers)
  • Assist with determining the HSEQ competencies needed by the operational team
  • Ensure compliance to Amey and NR standards

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Mid-level qualification and full membership of a professional institution (NEBOSH, IEMA, CQI or similar)
  • Technical knowledge backed by significant experience of implementation, in one or more of the following topics: Health & Safety, Environment & Sustainability and Quality & Assurance management systems – Within Rail.
  • IT Literate
  • A full and current UK driving licence
  • PTS holder (preferred but not essential)
