Senior FP&A Accountant

Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a Bespoke & Specialty Insurer in London who are looking to hire a Senior FP&A Accountant to join on a permanent basis.

The role

Reporting to the Head of Planning, the Senior Group FP&A Accountant will support the delivery of all aspects of financial planning and analysis for the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Accountant with experience in Specialty insurance to join a growing Finance function.

Key accountabilities

• Assist the Head of Planning in all aspects of the Group financial planning and forecasting processes, including legal entities.
• Liaise with underwriters on premium planning and monitoring actual vs benchmark.
• A contributing role in further development of the Anaplan planning and analysis system
• Assist with preparation of group and legal entity finance board materials including detailed financial analysis and reporting.
• Assist with continuous improvement in processes and controls across the FP&A team.
• Assist in the enhancement and development of MI to support the business.
• Assist in the development of key analysis models to help inform decision making.
• Involvement in additional finance projects as required.

Skills & experience

• University Degree and a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent)
• Experience with (re)insurance required
• FP&A experience required, ideally within an insurance organization.
• Experience with Anaplan planning and analysis system.
• Understanding of US GAAP and/or IFRS
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including robust Excel skills
• Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial data to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Able to deliver accurate and thoughtful work within tight deadlines
