SENIOR FINANCE ASSISTANT / ACCOUNTANT – SHERBORNE

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:15
Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum
Hawk 3 Talent Solutions, operating as an employment agency, are currently recruiting for a Senior Finance Assistant / Accountant to join our clients Accountancy Practice in Sherborne on a full time permanent contract.
The successful candidate will ideally be AAT qualified, QBE or part qualified accountant (ICAEW / ACCA but would also consider CIMA)
Within this position you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting through to management accounts and financial statements inclyding audits where required.
Duties & responsibilities:

• Ensure all finance functions and accounting records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner
• Undertake all prime entry bookkeeping tasks ensuring all income and costs have been appropriately approved, recorded accurately and VAT where applicable is correctly treated
• Administer all payment runs to the required frequency culminating in a weekly bank reconciliation where needed
• Prepare VAT returns ensuring these are submitted on time
• Maintain all fixed asset registers, ledgers and control accounts accurately
• Undertake credit control when required
• Produce management accounts and year end statutory accounts files for internal and external audit review
• Prepare regular reports not limited to actual v budget cost summaries and profit forecasts as an example
• Undertake project work as required

About you:

• Working towards accountancy qualifications, recently qualified or qualified by experience with at least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally within practice
• Experience of accounting for transactions that are subject to VAT
• Can proactively prioritize their own work
• Able to deal with confidential information
• Excellent administration and communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of MS and experience of using accounting software
• Willing to learn
