Senior Estates Engineer in Luton

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estates Engineer to oversee the operational requirements of our client’s building portfolio in Luton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective management and maintenance of all properties within the portfolio, optimising functionality, safety and cost efficiency. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance the overall performance and value of the property assets.

Salary & Benefits:

Hours: Monday - Friday 0730-1600
Salary: Upto £55,000

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

The principal role is to maintain the building estates. This will include the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of properties, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance the value and performance of the estate.
  • Oversee routine maintenance activities, repairs, and renovations to ensure the properties are well-maintained and comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with external contractors to coordinate maintenance and repair projects.
  • Ensure that all properties comply with relevant building regs, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Prepare and manage annual budgets for the building portfolio, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation.
  • Monitor financial performance and report on variances.
  • To advise on financial estimates and consequences for all work, evaluate costs and materials to ensure budgetary balance and control of stock levels as previously agreed.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with tenants, addressing their needs and concerns promptly.



The ideal candidate will need the following experience and knowledge:

  • Proven experience in Estates management or in a similar role, demonstrating successful portfolio management.
  • Strong understanding of building regulations, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in property management software and relevant technology tools.
  • An engineering-based qualification or experience in maintenance (desirable)
  • Familiar with working in a dynamic environment as part of a support services team
  • Fully conversant with Employer’s obligations under health and safety law, relative to the duties of the role
  • Health and Safety qualification - NEBOSH General / Construction (desirable)
  • Contract management.
