Full time, 38 hours per week

Our client, a world-renowned aerospace engineering company, are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Design Engineer to join their pivotal Design and Manufacturing team at a crucial stage in their long-term growth plans. Reporting to the Design Team Leader, the successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in modern manufacturing techniques, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Please note: Due to the nature of the role; candidates must have resided in the UK for 5 consecutive years.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical authority and mentor within the team.
• Utilize Catia V5 to produce detailed 3D and 2D CAD models of parts and assemblies.
• Conduct reporting using FEA, FMEA, and design calculations for part certification.
• Support the manufacture of wind tunnel test components, sub-assemblies, and associated rigs.
• Lead load and stress calculations, ensuring adherence to part and material specifications.
• Implement design for manufacture principles, including 5-axis machining and instrumentation requirements.
• Facilitate project launch, design review, and project wash-up meetings.

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with a qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline (degree preferred).
• Proficiency in GD&T, FEA, DFMEA, and stress calculation.
• Strong CAD skills, particularly in Catia V5, and familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and implement innovative solutions.
• Aerospace or aerodynamic application experience preferred.
• Background in R&D or testing is advantageous.
• Knowledge of 6 Sigma, specifically experience with 5S and LEAN manufacturing principles.
• Understanding of MRP systems and high-speed aerodynamics testing.
