SEND Operations Co-Ordinator

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordination of SEND Support Services: The coordinator is responsible for overseeing the provision of support services for students with special educational needs and disabilities. This involves liaising with various stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of support.

  2. Developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Creating and implementing tailored education plans, considering their specific needs and goals. This involves assessing their progress, adjusting strategies as needed, and ensuring that support is aligned with their individual requirements.

  3. Training and Development: Providing training and guidance to staff members on best practices for supporting individuals with SEND. This may include workshops on inclusive teaching methods, awareness of different disabilities, and techniques for managing challenging behaviours.

  4. Ensuring Compliance with Regulations: Staying up-to-date with relevant legislation and guidelines related to SEND provision, and ensuring that the organisation remains compliant.

  5. Safeguarding and Risk Management: Implementing strategies to safeguard the well-being, including procedures for identifying and addressing concerns of abuse or neglect. This may involve working closely with safeguarding teams, conducting risk assessments, and providing support to vulnerable students.

  6. Non-Accidental Restraint Techniques (NARS): Being proficient in non-accidental restraint techniques for situations where de-escalation strategies have failed and there is an imminent risk of harm to the individual or others.
