We are looking for a full time SEN teaching assistant who specialises in supporting students on the autistic spectrum to work at one of our schools in Leeds. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at a school who ensures excellent teaching and learning takes place within a safe and inclusive environment. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who is eager to support students with their learning. You will work collaboratively with teachers to provide effective support for learning activities. You will work with children who have complex needs and will have the ability to adapt their learning strategy. You will support the teacher with behaviour management and maintain these expectations with the students they work with. The successful candidate will also be a strong communicator and will have the patience needed to be supportive to children who may be struggling to pick up a specific concept.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in their social development and their emotional well-being, reporting
  • problems to the teacher as appropriate;
  • Maintain of a clean, safe and tidy learning environment;
  • Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities;
  • Support pupils to understand instructions, support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working or volunteering with SEND children (autism experience preferable).
  • Behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to working as part of a team.
  • Caring and empathetic personality
