Position: SEN English Teacher
Location: Reading
Contract: Permanent, Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supporting Trust Values: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and practices that uphold the Trust's values and ethos.

2. Teaching and Learning: Plan and deliver highly effective English lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with SEN, incorporating cross-curricular elements such as literacy, numeracy, and PSMSC.

3. Assessment: Use formative assessment to monitor student progress and implement interventions to ensure the highest levels of student progress.

4. Behaviour Management and Student Wellbeing: Create a positive and nurturing learning environment where students feel safe and supported, implementing appropriate behaviour management strategies and recording them accordingly.

5. Pastoral and Inclusion: Act as a form tutor, delivering highly effective tutor and Personal, Social, Moral, and Spiritual Sessions. Take responsibility for the behaviour and attendance of students in your tutor group.

6. Other Responsibilities: Participate in recruitment and selection activities, engage in the appraisal system, and undertake other reasonable responsibilities as directed by the Head of Department or Headteacher.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching English to students with SEN.
  • A detailed understanding of students' starting points, barriers to learning, and individual needs.
  • Experience in implementing and adhering to policies related to behaviour management, safeguarding, and inclusion.
