Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (1-1)
Location: Rossendale, Lancashire

The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our client on a long-term basis. In this role, you will provide essential 1-1 support to a student with SEMH needs, helping them to access the curriculum, manage their emotions, and develop essential life skills. Your role will be important in promoting the student's social and emotional well-being, fostering positive relationships, and empowering them to succeed academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1-1 support to the assigned student with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom environment.
  • Implement individualised strategies and interventions to support the student's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where the student feels safe, supported, and valued.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to the student's support.
  • Monitor and record the student's progress, behaviours, and achievements, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and self-regulation skills in the student, empowering them to overcome challenges and succeed.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Relevant qualifications or training in supporting students with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
