Are you a SEMH TA looking for a new role in Islington? Or are you a mainstream teacher with a passion for teaching children with social emotional and mental health needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an SEMH TA for this specialist school who offer support for children who have struggled in mainstream education. This is a full time, long-term role for the full academic year 2024/2025 and upon review there will be an opportunity to go permanent.

The School:

The school caters for 11- to 16 year olds with social, emotional and mental health challenges. Pupils are taught in small form groups of generally no more than six pupils, with a high ratio of support from specialist teachers, learning assistants and pastoral mentors. Pupils access a broad and balanced personalised curriculum that includes a strong emphasis on literacy skills, personal development, academic subjects and vocational courses. Pupils are fully assessed on entry during an induction week, and there are flexible timetables differentiated to meet individual learners' needs.

As a SEMH TA you will be responsible for the below:

  • Providing in-class support for pupils with SEMH
  • Acting as a key worker and mentor for designated students
  • Updating and setting targets
  • Working alongside other professionals in the support network
  • Liaising with parents / carers

To join us and be successful in this role you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children/young learners with SEMH
  • An Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
  • Legal right to work in the UK
