School Finance Officer

The role
As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in managing the financial operations of the school, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and best practices. Working closely with the School Business Manager and senior leadership team, you will contribute to the effective financial management of the school budget and resources.
- Maintain accurate financial records, including income, expenditure, and budget allocations.
- Process invoices, payments, and payroll in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts for senior leadership and governing bodies.
- Assist with budget planning and monitoring, identifying areas for potential savings or efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and statutory requirements, including VAT and tax obligations.
- Provide support and advice to staff on financial matters, including procurement and budget management.
The ideal candidate
- A finance or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
- Previous experience in school finance or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse financial data accurately.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and financial management software.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements within the education sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
