School Cleaner
  • Location: Wakefield
  • Contract Type: Permanent, part-time, term time only
  • Hours: 25 hours per week, Mon-Fri 2pm-7pm
  • Salary: £11.72 - £11.93 per hour (Actual annual salary: £13,088.31 - £13,322.83)
  • Closing Date: Tuesday 4th June

We are seeking a dedicated School Cleaner to join our team at a specialist school catering to young people aged 11 to 19 with complex care needs. The role is based in Wakefield and offers a supportive environment where you can contribute to the students’ holistic development.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Vacuuming and cleaning floors across various rooms including offices, classrooms, and corridors.
  • Spot cleaning of spillages and wiping down furniture and surfaces.
  • Emptying and cleaning bins daily and ensuring sanitary conditions.
  • Cleaning toilets, including sanitary fittings and surrounds.
  • Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
  • Wiping, dusting, cobweb removal, and polishing as needed.
  • Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets and other areas daily.
  • Undertaking deep cleaning tasks as required.
  • Ensuring windows are closed, lights are switched off, and the building is secure upon exit.
  • Flexibility to take on various duties as needed within the school environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Some knowledge of Health and Safety regulations regarding cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Ability to work effectively and supportively as part of the school team.
  • Capable of working with minimum supervision and able to prioritise tasks.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work requirements.
  • Experience in undertaking a range of cleaning duties.
  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
