Our Client is one of the UK’s top 100 law firms, with a strong reputation for both commercial and private client work. They have expertise in undertaking complex corporate and property transactions, as well as commercial, tax and trust matters and disputes. With a history dating back over two centuries, they have recently moved to stunning new offices.

They are now looking for a Revenue Manager. Reporting to the Head of Finance you will be responsible for managing the firm’s revenue cycle from billing to collection. This will include firmwide exposure management and ensuring that

the firm reaches its WIP and Debtor Day targets, reduces aged Lockup, and limits any losses to bad debts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Head of Finance and firm wide Finance Partners strengthening the financial management and control of the working capital of the firm.
  • To be proactive in identifying potential losses for the firm through early identification of commercial risks, deterioration in credit worthiness of the client or out of policy client management.
  • To take a lead role in the debt resolution process - identifying risks promptly and to provide practical solutions to the management of problematic exposures.
  • To summarise and communicate concerns on risks for the firm be it client or partner related, in a boardroom environment to the Heads of Department.
  • To contribute to the bad debt provisioning exercise by providing insight and background to client exposures and the likelihood of recovery.
  • Manage the efficiency, effectiveness, and consistency of working practices within the Revenue team.
  • Co-ordinate the core tasks of the team (WIP meetings, statement runs, debt collections and billing) to ensure a fair allocation of work and efficiency in focus for the team.
  • Act as a main point of escalation for issues providing assistance and guidance to team members as required.
  • Be an active communicator and representative of the team both at a departmental level and to the wider firm.
  • Ensure the team meets and exceeds the service level expectations of the firm.
  • Line management and supervision of the team’s revenue controllers ensuring their career development & training. You will also be responsible for approving sickness/leave guaranteeing there is appropriate cover at all times.
  • Ensure consistent feedback of team members as well as partaking in the team’s annual appraisal process.
  • To lead and oversee the planning, communication, training and implementation of revenue control projects and effectively manage change with all stakeholders to minimise disruption to business.
  • To manage the review, implementation communication and observance of best practice across credit management and billings policies and procedures
  • Lead on the evaluation, recommendation and implementation of new and updated modules of the firm’s Aderant PMS
  • Ownership of the billing process and collections functions for the firm ensuring that it is as efficient and predictable as possible.
  • Provide guidance on policy, VAT and compliance issues to the team and firm.
  • Manage the firm’s approach to eBilling requirements.
  • Target setting & billing/collection drive management.
  • Working closely with the SAR Compliance Officer, ensure consistency of departmental service delivery to the firm assisting with the resolution of matter balances, SAR compliance and other issues as required.
  • Manage the relationship between the Revenue team and the firm’s in-house debt collection team to improve the recovery of "at risk" debts

Candidate Profile

  • Strong academics
  • Previous relevant and practical experience within the Accounts department of a law Firm;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Experience in project delivery and change management with the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Finance systems and software
  • Knowledge of Solicitor’s Accounts Rules
  • Meticulous attention to detail and will be able to demonstrate exceptional case management.
  • A demonstrable track record of excellent direct client contact and client care; and
  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Office packages, working knowledge of document management system and e-filing
