We are searching for a compassionate and experienced Residential Support Worker to ensure the quality of life of pupils at a fantastic Residential Special School in Benfleet.

Classroom Support is working flat out to support a tremendous Residential Special School in Benfleet. We are currently searching for experienced Residential Support Workers to assist in the care and wellbeing of their students.

The ideal Residential Support Worker will have excellent communication skills and will be a friendly and energetic person who will do their best to support both pupils and teachers.

Your role will be varied, involving moving and handling, personal care and housekeeping duties such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. You will also be required to provide support throughout the evenings and mornings helping pupils with very challenging needs become gradually more independent.

It is essential that you have previous experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs, are confident in deliveringpersonal care and are certified in either 'Manual Handling’ or 'Moving and Handling’. Ongoing training will be provided at the school as well as refresher training throughout the year.

Your working days will be Monday - Friday, and the hours will vary due to the work being shift work. You will need to be flexible with your availability as there are Day Shifts (e.g. 8am to 4pm), Afternoon Shifts (2pm to 10pm) and Night/Morning Shifts (21:30pm to 09:30am).

The specifications of the role are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday with varied shift pattern. (Term-time only).
  • £12-13 per hour.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Temporary to permanent - initial temp period of 12-14 academic weeks.

To start in April 2024.

The requirements of the role are as follows:

  • You must have a valid enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the update service) or be willing to pay for a new one (£52.20). This must be a Child & Adult Workforce Certificate.
  • You must have at least 1 year (AND RECENT) Care Sector experience e.g. Care Support Assistant, Care Home Worker etc.
  • You must have Manual handling training and in date certification. Must have moving and handling of people in residential care. Dated within 1 year or close to.
  • You will ideally have a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. You will be supported to obtain one if not.
