Residential Care Worker Elderly

Hays Social Care are working with a client in Omagh, who make it their focus to help everyone make the best of their later life, by providing advice, companionship and support to those older people who need it most.

Your new role
As part of a team of you will assist residents to sustain maximum independence by encouraging them to work with you in the carrying out of domestic tasks such as bed making, tidying of bedrooms and mealtime tasks. You will administer medication to residents under the supervision of Management and carry out personal care tasks such as bathing, mobility needs, toileting and feeding as determined by tailor made care plans. You will encourage the individuals or group to participate in social, therapeutic and stimulating activities such as reminiscence work, reading and outings. You will assist with the formulation and review of care plans, maintain written records and other information as required.
With all of this you will maintain high standards of care with older people so they achieve their optimum level of personal functioning.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this position you will need to be NISCC registered, a team player who is open to shift cover, with at least 6 months experience of working with older people with dementia in a residential, community or hospital setting. You will have good record keeping skills, have a flexible approach to your working as well and be empathetic and compassionate. Having an NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification would be an advantage.
