Quality Assurance Technical Graduate (Food Industry)Job Description

We supply all the major supermarkets in the UK. We also supply convenience and travel retail outlets, discounters, coffee shops, foodservice, and other retailers. We have strong market positions in a range of categories including sandwiches, salads, sushi, chilled snacking, chilled ready meals, chilled soups and sauces, chilled quiche, ambient sauces and pickles and frozen Yorkshire Puddings.

This is a dynamic and innovative field, which therefore brings many technical challenges relating to how we manufacture our many food products. We want to develop the future leaders focusing on Quality Auditing, Process development and hygiene work.

We're looking for our next generation of Food Technical Leaders to develop and grow a career with Greencore. As a graduate, you will have the opportunity to gain experience across a number of sites to become a multi-skilled professional, with experience in a breadth of environments, developing your skills in key aspects of the Food Technical function.

What you'll be doing

You will complete two placements in across Quality, Process, Hygiene and Technical Services functions, across a minimum of two sites over an 18-24-month period. You will gain experience in our and develop and own a project plan during the programme.

Your responsibilities could include:

Quality Assurance:* Sample, test, audit and monitor to verify that all processes, procedures, and products are being manufactured in a safe & compliant manner.

Factory Trials:* Plan, prepare and conduct factory trials which involve running our products through a factory line to check that they are suitable for large scale manufacturing.

Recipe Validation:* Undertake recipe/ingredient validation and packaging tests in line with Technical procedures.

Audits:* Plan and execute audits ensuing we are adhering to customer and legal requirements.

Customer Queries:* Collate, investigate, and report on queries that come in from our retailer customers.

You'll be assigned a dedicated mentor to help you work on your personal development plan. Your mentor will be able to guide you in making the most of the experience and exposure opportunities of the graduate programme and create a clear development plan towards your goal end role.

Our programme has been created with this in mind and therefore offers additional courses and opportunities to develop both your technical and fundamental soft skills and become a fully rounded professional.

  • Curious, organised, and able to use your excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.

To join our Quality Assurance Technical Graduate programme, you will need:

  • A BSc in Food Science or other food/science related discipline*
  • You must hold the right to live and work in the UK until completion of the Graduate scheme (September 2026).

Our operation is 24/7 so you will be required to work shifts. These will vary depending on site and could include early starts from 5am, rotating night shifts and weekends.

As this role provides the opportunity to work at different sites as part of your rotation, you will need to be geographically flexible and open to travelling.

Our first stage assessment process will take place between Wednesday 15th May - Friday 17th May 2024 and our second stage assessment will take place in person at one of our Greencore manufacturing sites on Friday 31st May.

Induction and enrolment for this role and the apprenticeship will take place in August and September.
