Our client continues to grow and deliver innovative solutions to our UK defence customers. With a strong commitment to excellence and inclusivity, our client offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled aircraft production/maintenance Quality Assurance Engineer. This role supports our E-7 contract, involving the modification of five B737-700NG aircraft to the E-7 standard at the STS Aerospace facility in Birmingham International Airport.

As the E-7 On-Site Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be an integral part of our client’s Aircraft Programme Quality Team, reporting to the BDUK Fixed Wing Quality Manager and working closely with the on-site E-7 Quality Manager. Your responsibilities will include QA inspections, Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and design oversight during the major modification programme. Additionally, you will provide QA oversight of on-site design teams, ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop quality assurance strategies, plans, and tests for hardware and software products, processes, and services, ensuring early quality involvement in program development.
  • Verify product conformity to design and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Maintain processes, procedures, and metrics to ensure adherence to program, contract, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and document discrepancies, control non-conforming items, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Conduct audits, surveillance, and monitoring, identifying discrepancies and managing corrective actions.
  • Facilitate a Just Culture within the QMS Maintenance/Production Organisation.
  • Analyse unfavourable process data, customer complaints, and metric results, formulating mitigation plans using the closed-loop preventive/corrective action process.
  • Represent Quality in design reviews, performing routine verification of product conformance to design requirements.

Essential Competencies:

  • Maintenance/Modification experience in a civil or military environment.
  • Part 21 experience.
  • Safety Management Systems knowledge and experience.
  • Aviation Quality Management System (QMS) experience.
  • Ability to coordinate with leaders and team members, identify help needed, and compile statistical data.
  • Qualified Auditor with auditing experience.

Desirable Competencies:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • MRB QA experience.
  • First Article Inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations (MAA/CAA/EASA).
  • Familiarity with Boeing Process and Procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and customer-focused.

Work Authorisation:

  • This position is for locally hired candidates in the UK, requiring current legal authorisation to work in the United Kingdom. Our client will not seek immigration or labour sponsorship.

  • UK security clearance is required, for which UK Citizenship is necessary.
