Hayley Group Limited has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Purchasing Assistant to join our well-established and experienced Seals team based at our Halesowen branch. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary.

About the role:

As our Purchasing Assistant, you will oversee the inventory profile of the Seals division and guarantee that essential products are sufficiently stocked at HQ. The role will consist of raising purchase orders with suppliers and manufacturers either to replenish stock or for demand orders raised by our branch network. Using analytical skills, you will assess where changes are required to stock, in line with market and customer demand. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is looking to develop their skills and progress within a dynamic and growing business.

Working hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, including 1 in 4 Saturdays (8.30 am – 12.30 pm).

Key responsibilities as our Purchasing Assistant will include:

  • Order processing within our ERP system.
  • Building a rapport with suppliers and extending our existing trading relationships with our supplier base.
  • Collaborating closely with suppliers to regularly update our branch network and customer base on lead times and product availability.
  • Working with our data team to ensure all data is current and up to date and ensuring easy workflow between departments and branch locations.
  • Utilising Hayley’s bespoke IT system to accurately identify, source and price items; to accurately record enquiries and orders, invoices and documentation.
  • Assisting in the evolution and development of purchasing procedures to enhance the level of service the department can provide.
  • Undertaking other similar or associated duties as may be required.

Skills & Attributes we are looking for in our Purchasing Assistant:

  • The ideal candidate must be motivated and have a passion for customer service and ideally, interest within the engineering industry.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Excellent customer service skills, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient in using computer software, including Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work to deadlines.
  • Experience of working on delivering successful purchasing projects, with an analytical mindset.
