Production Manager

Production Manager Required:

Due to expansion our client who is based in Basildon, Essex and who specialise in design, manufacture and distribution of laser cutting/engraving systems is seeking an experienced Production Manager, who can lead from the front regarding productivity, quality, and work ethic.

Initial contribution

Quality is key in this role, so we are looking for a Production Manager who can lead from the front regarding quantity & quality of work and making sure that the best is being delivered.

Immediate targets

Management of a 3-person build team as well as a small number of sub-contractors

Production of 1 machine per "worker", per week, including the production manager; i.e. target x4 machines

Quality is key, any machines returned for any rework or any site visits required to correct any fundamental errors that should not have occurred during the build process will be deducted from the amount built.

Medium term targets (during the first 3 months)

• Motivation of staff and planning of work tasks, per person, according to the build requirements.
• Organising stock; quarantining unnecessary or infrequently used stock.
• Procurement of UK sourced stock, in a timely fashion, in conjunction with the Buyer, Technical Support Manager and Managing Director.
• Organising tools, so that the correct tools are in the correct areas for each stage of the build process.
• Review of staff numbers and staff skills to ensure that work is being carried out by the appropriate people, suggesting training needs as appropriate.
• Recruitment of any new personnel to enhance the team.

Longer term goals

• A bonus scheme for all members of the assembly team to be reviewed & put into working practices.
• Improvement of processes regarding quantity & quality

Package

• £40,000-£45,000 per annum basic
• 20 days holiday per annum, plus statutory Bank Holidays increasing by +1 day for each year of service to a max of +5
• 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday at Basildon HQ
