Procurement Lead

Immediately Required

Location: Exeter one day a week and one meeting a month

Salary: £40-42,000

Contract: 6 months

Our client is a forward-thinking public sector organisation committed to delivering excellence to their community. Sitting within their Finance Directorate, the Procurement leads plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of resources.

As the Procurement Lead, you will spearhead the development, management, and control of procurement and commissioning activities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively manage and control category spend in collaboration with lead stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of procurement legislation changes and implement updates
  • Lead collaborative efforts with other authorities on joint procurement initiatives
  • Identify, develop, and implement improvements to procurement processes
  • Develop and deliver procurement training across the organisation
  • Lead complex procurement and contract management, including negotiation
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with regulations and procedures
  • Develop business cases for major procurements and advise on procurement routes
  • Prepare tender documentation and evaluate tender responses.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement practices

Person Specification:

  • Holds MCIPS membership status.
  • Experience leading complex procurement projects
  • Financial and commercial awareness with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills
  • Understanding of public contract regulations and relevant legislation
  • Awareness of local government issues, political context, and sustainability
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and excellence
